I am thrilled to introduce myself as the Education Director for the Jewish Learning Lab and The Jewish Teen Experience here at Tifereth Israel of Bensalem!
I have worked in Jewish Educational settings for more than 25 years and I have loved every minute of this journey! From working with toddlers and preschoolers to children in supplementary schools, my career has been one filled with the rewards of helping Jewish children to discover how Judaism fits into their everyday lives.
My most recent experience was at Temple Beth Zion-Beth Israel, a Conservative Shul in Center City Philadelphia. I began teaching in both the Preschool and the Hebrew School in 1993. Twelve years ago, I was promoted to Education Director. I also assumed the roles of Judaic Programs Coordinator for the Preschool as well as the Music Teacher.
I have been trained at the 92nd Street Y (NYC) in implementing “The Shababa Approach” for helping families with young children connect to Judaism through music, puppets, art and storytelling. I was also invited to mentor several other synagogues throughout the United States in using this approach.
I am a fluent Hebrew speaker (self-taught) and I look forward to being able to sprinkle some modern Hebrew throughout the Shul. Mostly, I am filled with a passion for helping children and families to discover the relevance of our sacred Torah and texts in our lives today using the most experiential methods available.
I am looking forward to becoming a part of the TI Family and to meeting and getting to know each and every one of you.
