Dear Parents,
As the Director of Education at Congregation Tifereth Israel, I am proud to wear many hats. I oversee both our Judy Sare Nursery School and Hebrew School, always seeking new and innovative ways to engage our children and families and to foster a lasting love and connection to Judaism.
This year, continuing with the theme of l’dor v’dor—from generation to generation—we will be spotlighting the grandparents in our community. The value of l’dor v’dor links our history with that of the past and the future. Judaism places great importance on memory. When we remember what came before us and embrace the knowledge gained from those who came before us, all of our stories become as one. L’dor v’dor not only means knowing the history of our people but also learning the history of our own families and communities. It is our family that provides the foundations for the lessons we learn. L’dor v’dor is the promise to extend a way of living from one generation to the next. This promise is what matters most to us because it affirms our place in the community, shapes our values, and guides the important decisions of our lives. Look forward to intergenerational programs designed to strengthen the special bond between grandparents and grandchildren, enriching our entire community in the process.
I am also honored to share that I was accepted into the newest cohort of the Venture Israel Fellowship, a unique and heavily subsidized opportunity for Jewish educators. This journey will allow me to return with a renewed passion for Israel education in our supplementary schools, along with creative and inspiring ways to ignite curiosity and excitement in our students about the State of Israel.
The most precious jewels in our Preschool, Hebrew School and Camp Simcha are YOUR children. Ensuring their safety when they walk into our building is foremost in our actions each and every day. To that end, we have developed policies and procedures to ensure their security. Please assist our staff in following our rules during drop-off, pick-up, and, if needed, entering our building, and always follow the requests of our security guard.
L’Shalom,
Cindy Citron
